Strongers . left this review about Fieldys
After closure of around five months the Havelock reopened in July 2015 as Fieldys, which is the family name of the owner. The bar is found in the left rear corner of a square high ceilinged front room that is lined with standard tables and chairs. On the wall to the right of the bar is a plasma screen and Sky Sports is advertised. Between the bar and the front windows is a dartboard and a pool table can be found in a room at the rear that can be hired for functions. When I entered it was uncomfortably quiet with a handful of locals at the bar, but thankfully someone put some money in the jukebox which seemed to inject a little life into the stagnant atmosphere.
Out the back is a surprisingly large beer garden and I noted an advert for a children’s play area, but I did not venture out to investigate. Also advertised is live music at weekends and free Wifi. Apparently home cooked food is available, but I didn’t note any signs of an open kitchen during my Sunday lunchtime visit.
Like the keg range behind the bar I found this pub to be rather unspectacular. An inebriated local informed me that some work was taking place to make this a family friendly local. There would have to be major upheaval in this backstreet boozer before it would appeal to this demographic.
