Originally a roadside inn,, it has been extensively renovated and extended and is now a bit confused as to what it wants to be. Over-modernisation has made it feel sterile, while the floor plan has meant there isn’t really a central point for socialisation. It feels more like a cafe than a village local. There is a large restaurant area, while the drinking spaces are disjointed. Wood laminate floors throughout, dull muzak and bright light all make it feel a bit false. The staff were friendly enough, but the locals weren’t particularly welcoming. Outside, there is a large gravel car park and a functional garden. Ales on were Downton Honey Blonde and Quadhop, and London Pride, plus a dry pump. The keg choices were Brooklyn Stonewall IPA, Shipyard, Guinness, 2 Somersby ciders, Carlsberg, 1664 Blanc and Estrella. I might drop in for a quick pint if in the area, but it’s not a destination in its own right.
