An Australian themed pub chain that I only ever encounter in the north of England, this large open plan Walkabout has the feel of an industrial unit that has some cheap Aussie themed stickers stuck on the walls. There’s also wooden structure that must have taken a couple of hours to knock up and the photobooth reveals who this bar is really aimed at. There’s a stage on the right-hand wall with a large koala painted on the wall behind. The very long counter across the rear wall supports standard and premium keg and the barman was friendly, which was a good show seeing as there were only two other customers. Televisions are found throughout for showing all things sport, so I suppose this is a good place to go if you’re mob handed and looking to watch the match. I thought this chain was crap in my youth, and my opinion hasn’t changed over the last 30 years.
