An amazing looking old stone building, its surely unique portico and white bull statue identifying it unmistakably in every photograph. The door beneath the portico leads into a fairly ordinary hall-cum-foyer, and this is where the bar is situated. Rooms lead off - a public bar with TV to the left and a dining room to the right, a beer garden to the rear and stairs up to the accommodation straight ahead. The disappointment was the beer: two hand pumps with Wye Valley HPA (what's that doing here in Lancashire) and Timothy Taylor Landlord available on two of the four hand pumps, the others not being in use. If Bowland Brewery beers had been available, as at the time of Ray's review below, I might have been tempted to come close to his score of 8; as it is I rate this a 5.

Dates back to 1702 a Grade II listed building. Has a fairly large interior, staff and locals friendly and chatty. Bowland beers served here, which are always on my list.
