Strongers . left this review about The Globe

On the wrong side of Parkway, the Globe is a bit of a faff to get to with three different crossings that seemed to be timed to make the walk as long as possible. This is an imposing stand-alone pub with a tiled floor from the entrance to the barstool lined serving counter across the rear where premium keg was available alongside Carlsberg and three hand pumps that were drawing Greene King’s Fireside, Scrumdown and IPA. To the left of the tiled walkway is a strip of raised seating and a dartboard behind a blue painted brick chimney breast with a tiled fireplace. To the right of the entrance is a laminate floored area where a pool table sits. There’s some laminate floored open plan seating to the right of the counter at the rear and across the front are two large, carpeted seating areas. Televisions are located throughout for showing the advertised Sky & TNT Sports, but there was nothing of note on, so they were muted in favour of some background music. The service wasn’t that welcoming, and I was served a pint when I clearly asked for a half. Isn’t it a coincidence that bar staff in crap pubs are always the ones that are hard of hearing when a half is ordered. I didn’t like the vibe in here and I’ll not be walking out of town again to revisit.
