An open plan stone built pub opposite the village church. GBG listed but a fairly pedestrian selection of beers on the six pulls, Holts Bitter, White Rat, Oakham Citra, which was very good, Robbos Unicorn, and err Wainwright and Old Speckled Hen. Your usual suspect lagers and Guinness on a couple of quad T’s and an overblown Guinness harp. It is a little more biased towards food than beer but not to a worrying degree. Entering down a short vestibule the counter is dead ahead with seating / dining to both left and in a narrower space to the right. As Quinno says that ex Royal Navy bloke has been in with the battleship grey paint, otherwise it’s new flags and banquette seating. You can just about discern where the old walls were due to some poor building work on the ceilings. Lots of old photos and some ad’s as decor. Piped music was on at a tolerably low level and the screen in the corner was off, there’s also a big pull down one over one of the front windows. I travelled by bus to the pretty village of Old Glossop although it’s only about 3/4 of a mile from Glossop. A bit underwhelming as a pub I would say.

Far-flung GBGer though the uphill walk through the park is pleasant. Sadly some goon has got the grey paintbrush out and made a mess of an otherwise decent - if opened-out - interior. Six pumps with five on, all obvious mainstreams for the area perhaps bar the White Rat. As an interloper I went for the Holts Bitter which was ostensibly good but tasted slightly old after a few sips (NBSS 2.5). Feels like it's shot itself in the foot a bit, a bit more beer variety and a banishment of the grey gloop would really work in its favour. Worth a look if you’re new to Glossop but I doubt I’d feel the need to schlep up the hill a second time. 6.5

found this the best out of the 3 we visited on a cold January night had a few before we called forgot what i had now but it was in good nick i think it was Doom bar could be our local

Built in 1825 and later turned into a beerhouse in 1837 to commemorate the ascension to the throne of Queen Victoria,the Queens Arms has a prominent position at the top of Manor Park Road.
After trudging the lengthy walk in inclement weather from the town centre, was slightly nonplussed to find all 3 pubs closed although i suppose it was a little early at 11-30am. The Queens did open around 11-45am and there was a good selection of 5 cask beers on including Thwaites Wainwright and Doom Bar, but i opted for Adnams Ghost Ship which was a fair old pint.

The Queens is a three storey stone built pub that is on the edge of the old town area of Glossop.
It looked like the pub was a Bass house from the outside but once inside there was a decent choice of beers on the bar,the pub was quite nice inside and was the sort of pub i could have stayed in longer.
There were four real ales on here i had a drink of Black Sheep bitter and this was a very nice well kept pint the other beers were Adnams bitter, Youngs bitter and Bombadier.
This was quite a nice pub.
