A fairly large pub in the centre of the village with a strong food trade but plenty of room for drinkers. There is an L-shaped main bar, a restaurant area to one side and a rather nice games room hidden at the back, together with a garden at the rear. Decoration has gone a bit over the top, with an oversized stone fireplace in the bar and a vast collection of fake beams and woodwork thoughout the restaurant side, which does give an historic feel if you don't look too closely. Ales on seemed to be Theakston's Best as a regular alongside a changing Pennine brew and condition was pretty good. The food is home-made and recommended.
