This is a 1950’s looking detached Banks’s pub. It is exposed brick, with a wood fence screening the main entrance. There is a bit of grass to the side where there is a picnic table.
The interior has an open-plan L-shaped room with a smallish serving bar to the left, accessed by a short passage from the front. The decor is cream, with a bit of wood panel, white ceiling and a mainly red carpet floor, matched by the red seating. There is a pool table and a dart board and a few TVs that were showing the footy. There was no background music. The service is friendly and the clientele locals that are a little more to the mature side but have some great banter - it is both friendly and multicultural - even better when the horse-racing is on. I am not sure, but i think there is a restaurant room, serving Indian food, but have never seen it and the pictures on the walls in the bar/lounge room would suit an Indian resturant.
Beer; usual tap stuff with Banks’s MILD – which was fine. No real ale.
I have visited here a few times now and have a soft spot for this pub, despite there being no real ale (hint). I just love the banter that goes on - a friendly and fun Black Country pub.
