Bucking Fastard left this review about The Boars Head
What a crying shame,a fine old building now home to a failing pub.The exterior is noteworthy ,half timbered and dating from 1700 with two gabled ends.Ignore the signage about an ale house, that refers to a previous incarnation many moons ago. These days the three handpumps on the bar by the front door remain resolutely unclipped.Although the interior has original features,a low ceiling and a real fire, the welcome in hardly welcoming. The most used part of the pub is to the right where a pool table is popular with a yoof crowd, while the larger section to the left was in gloomy darkness.Only the most basic keg lagers and beers are on offer. It was too cold to discover the "secret" garden to the rear.
This pub is in desperate need of loving care,it has all the elements that would make it an interesting venue but a change of direction is urgently required. As it stands, there is little to tempt most punters over the threshold.
