In a stunning architectural pièce de résistance, the roof of the St Pauls Hotel is a majestic syncline which is in total harmony with the anticline of the award winning Winter Garden next door. As such it is probably best viewed from Sheffield's Peace Gardens, just outside.

If you do happen to find yourself inside, there is a bar which boasts one hand pump. The fact that this was serving Sequoia, my least favourite beer of the range brewed by Thornbridge, which is my least favourite brewery, was just the cherry on top of the icing as far as my visit here was concerned. To extend the metaphor further, having to pay £4.40 for a pint was probably the weevil inside the cherry.
