E TA left this review about The Monmouth Ash
A Hall and Woodhouse pub/restaurant on the egde of a large housing estate, the Monmouth Ash has recently been refurbished and has a lot of modern oak and floor tiles on display. It is pleasant inside, rambling, and has lots of nooks and crannies. The decor is a bit twee, lots of bon mots are painted around the walls, there are lots of old framed pictures hinting at a rose tinted past that never was and the food is formulaic. There's an outside seating area which is next to the main road and therefore quite noisy. There is a large car park at the back from where the main entrance is found. I found the staff pleasant but a bit distant, not wanting to engage in conversation with passing trade. There were 4 Badger beers on, I had a pint of Fursty Ferret which was a good pint but extraordinarily over-priced. it's fine, I suppose, but the high prices and lack of atmosphere would put me off spending a whole evening here.
