This is a split level open plan room that is still separated into areas where presumably there was once separate rooms. A pool table dominates an area to the left while the dart board to the right is obstructed and looked unused. A number of TV screens were all turned off. It was just about empty on my Wednesday afternoon visit.
Although there are two hand pumps they were both unused so I ended up with a pint of John Smiths smooth crap (£2.10) which had one redeeming feature of being cheap.
I thought this place was a waste of time.

The Chequers was a Shipstones tied house when i first went in it,with a very nice drink of Shipstone bitter on the bar.
The pub has now been opened out into one very large room that is on lots of different levels, the front right area has bench seating and stools, the front left is down a step, this area is more bare and geared up for dancing, there is a DJ rig to the front left, there is a pool table up a few steps to the rear left and a larger drinking area to the rear right.
On my last few visit here there have been no real ales on the bar, this was the case on my recent visit,i had a drink of Theakstons mild which was a decent drink, the keg bitter was John Smiths smooth crap.
The pub was fairly quiet on my Thursday afternoon visit,no doubt it would liven up on a weekend.
