Will Larter left this review about Wheatsheaf Hotel
Beetham is a quiet village just off the busy A6, and the Wheatsheaf is a lovely pub. Interesting from the outside and doesn't appear to have been mucked about too much inside. The front door opens into what would have been two rooms, opened out some time ago by the looks of it, with bare floorboards and plain walls painted a soothing shade, if you like sandy mud - on the right - and a darkish Wedgewood blue on the left. (It certainly soothed me after a hair-raising drive - on my way to the Lake District - around Manchester's orbital motorway.) The bar is on the right in the next part of the building, a sort of drinking corridor with staircase to the letting rooms, leading to a pleasant room further on. There are two hand pumps (see photo), and my pint of Bowness Bay Raven Red certainly hit the spot (NBSS 3.5).
