There was a lively local crowd of mixed ages in the Kings Head during a late afternoon visit on a recent bank holiday Monday. Through the car park entrance and to the left is a conservatory with rows of seating on a tartan carpet, but I was more interested in the bar that is found to the right, which is the front of the pub. The stool lined serving counter has a clear top under which are rows of bottle tops which looked quite cool. Premium keg was available alongside Fosters and Neck Oil, and one of the three hand pumps was in operation drawing Courtyard Brewery’s Summer Freedom 2021. There’s a mix of seating including a couple of light blue sofas and more standard tables and chairs. There’s also a dartboard, and a small TV was airing muted BBC Sport while some background music played. The bar staff seemed to be friendly enough, but there was a smell of old farts and puff which wasn’t very pleasant. This isn’t somewhere I’ll be stopping off at again.
