An Oakman Inn, this retains what appear to be wooden beams and posts in the front part of the building with a modern extension out back. The central bar is surrounded by areas for dining, save for a space directly in front between it and the entrance where you can enjoy a beer without any be-aproned staff asking you if there's "anything else". A three ale line-up saw Fuller's London Pride reversed but Tring Side Pocket for a Toad and Dark Star Hophead both on. You don't see the latter around these parts too often so I had to partake. £3.80 for the privilege and very good it was too. I wanted to dislike this place with its gravelled car park, aforementioned be-aproned staff and oceans of empty tables all laid out for phantom diners, but a tiny effort on the ale front makes all the difference to simple folk like me.

Reopened in Sept 2012 as The Cook and Fillet a restaurant cum cafe cum farm shop, but mainly farm shop as it is now owned by the Beef producing farm down the road
There is a bar area that does sell alcohol during locencing hours, but still not really enough of a pub to warrent it moving from being marked as closed as a pub on here.
