I assume that this has had a refurb recently. A sort of U-shaped pub and a clean and tidy place. No real ale though but it was friendly enough on this afternoon visit. No sign of any kids, though that's not to say there never is, maybe I was lucky. Not as bad as I thought it was going to be from the reviews of the last 2 people to have been in.

I live almost across the road from this pub, but never go in the place. It is one of those pubs that have constant low prices but very little in choice. John Smiths Smooth and Fosters lager, you get the idea. The highlight of the week is the Disco and Karaoke nights where everyone sings the same songs. There is not many decent pubs in Hyde anymore but some are a lot better than `the Jolly`.

I was going to call in here on my crawl of Hyde, but when I arrived at the door there were 2 girls with pushchairs have a fag, blocking the entrance. They were shouting at the kids and then at their boyfriends who were still in the pub, so I thought "Sod it, it'll be crap anyway and I've got lots of other, probably better places to fit in". So I walked on by.

The Jolly Carter is situated in the main shopping area of Hyde, the pub looks a bit different from the outside with two different types of front, once inside the pub had one room that i noticed this room was quite nice with a cosy feel to it.When i went in this pub it was a Bass tied house and there were two real ales on the bar i had a drink of Stones bitter and this was a nice drink the other beer was Bass Toby Light.
This was a decent enough pub to have a drink in.
