Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Clayhanger Bar @ North Stafford Hotel
Located directly opposite the main station entrance, this venerable hotel certainly looks the business (until you see the dreaded Britannia branding, and if you have stayed in one of this chain's establishments then your expectations won't be high, so any disappointment will already be moderated...). However, it is not as run down as some, so it is more a question of 'seen better days' than being outright down-at-heel. Anyway, there is a large lounge separate from the Clayhanger Bar area (with both having semi-modern furniture but more traditional hotel decor). No real ale, not unexpectedly, so made do with a Tetley's Smooth (£3.60) before retiring for the night.

An exceedingly dull hotel bar. The nearest to the station so if its a short wait for your train then this will have to do. Getting to the bar from the main entrance could take up your time as it seemed to be first right, the 2nd left, 1st right, up steps, 3rd left, down steps, over corridor, turn right, 4th door along, turn right, go left and voilà! You're there. Possibly. A white, bland room with a bar awaits you. No real ale. Boring and dull.

Typical hotel bar which finished my crawl of Stoke off. Nothing of any note and the toilets were Spoons like - downstairs.

Having about 20 minutes to spare before my train was due and in urgent need of liquid refreshment decided to give the North Stafford a go.However after going on a wild goose chase along a myriad of corridors finally found the Clayhanger bar but annoyingly closed.
