During a recent early midweek afternoon visit the grey and white painted, laminate floored Woodside Hotel was empty apart from the friendly governor and one of his locals who was sat on one of the stools that line the serving counter that’s found on the right-hand wall. This isn’t the biggest place, but there is a door marked ‘lounge’ to the side of the counter, but it would have looked a bit weird if I started trying all the doors in such an empty pub, so I didn’t investigate on this occasion. There’s a small central stage with speakers on the front wall that probably has enough room for a solo act or DJ. Black banquettes are found up the left where they’re broken up by a couple of supporting pillars. The televisions throughout were all off, as was the jukebox, but there was some background noise courtesy of a radio station. There is a pool table in the left rear corner, but with just a standard keg option I’m not sure that I’d walk out this way from the high street again.

A hotel situated on the road to Crossgates on the outer edge of Cowdenbeath. The bar area is large enough to sit at for about 8 to 10 people. There are also plenty of seats with the layout set out in a restaurant style, since food is also supplied. The bar has a more than reasonable choice of drinks and above the entrance door there are plenty of empty single malt whisky containers. Showing what was sold and is being sold at the bar.
