First visit to this lovely village pub for probably the first time in 25 years! Aberthin is a small village about a 5 minute drive from the centre of Cowbridge. There are a couple of benches out the front to catch the early evening sun. Inside there is a bar to the left and a dining area to the right. Wooden boards through the ground floor and white pained original stonework walls. There is some outside seating via typical rustic pub tables and benches that were popular in the evening sun. Was rushing being lte for a dinner booking so not much time to nose around. We ate in the upstairs carpeted restaurant that I don’t remember from previous visits.
This is definitely a very foody pub and it pops up on many sites suggesting the best places to eat in South Wales. It has regularly features in the Michelin guide and the chef has some impressive London venues on his CV. However, it is a good venue for beer as well, with three cask offerings during our visit (Wye Valley Butty Bach and HPA and Crww Gorslas from Glamorgan Brewing Co). Routine keg choices plus a guest craft apparently, but didn’t spot it!
Certainly brought back the memories of previous visits. A venue well worth checking out if even remotely in the area as something to keep beer drinkers and foodies happy here!
