Visited 18/02/26. Visited previously 19/09/18.
Cask here was Rev James, Brains Best Bitter and their rugby themed bitter Try SA! Keg comprised Barry Island IPA, Morreti, San Miguel, Dark fruits SB, Inch's, Carlsberg, Guinness, Estrella and Neck Oil.
Always thought this Brains pub looks better (inside and out) than it is as a pub. It is an L shaped venue following the inside shape of the venue with some tall stool seating on the shorter end of the bar counter. Seating around the perimeter is a mixture of regular and tall tables with commensurate seating. The area to the left of the entrance is up a step or two. There is some outside seating at the front on the busy pedestrian thoroughfare always well occupied in decent weather conditions (ie not today). Screens were switched off and an instrumental pop soundtrack playing on this re-visit.

Externally this looks like it should be in Brum, it being a handsome and imposing red brick building. Inevitably it has been whacked-around inside to produce a wonky F shaped interior. A bit of character remains, albeit subsumed under a modern paintjob disaster. GBG listed with four Brains cask, my SA wasn't going to pull up many trees but was par (NBSS 3).

A good looking building and now quite smart inside after what looks to have been a recent refurbishment. A large portrait of the Duke himself competes for attention with a range of well-kept Brains beers on the bar. I think this place hits the spot for a city centre pub, with just enough of tradition and modernity to appeal to a range of customers.

Alan Winfield left this review about Wellingtons
Wellingtons is a large looking pub situated in the centre of Cardiff.
Once inside i went into an L shaped room that was quite smart and comfortable,i did'nt see any other rooms.
The pub is a Brains tied house, there were two real ales on the bar,i had a drink of Brains bitter which was a decent drink, the other beer was Brains SA.
This is a pleasant city centre pub to have a drink in.
