Truly dreadful tourist pub with a great view. It's quite big, with two decent sized rooms and a pool table in the far corner. Three hand pumps in one room, totally naked, another set in the larger room with Pedigree and Wainwright both turned around. Too many staff on at 4pm on an August Saturday, all too busy talking to serve anyone, or even to know whether anyone was waiting (spoiler: I was). I settled for a Guinness but the customer before me was getting his poured into a plastic receptacle for drinking at the many tables outside. I managed to negotiate a traditional half pint glass for mine and sat inside. The beer was a lot better than in the Bar Bach, and a little cheaper too (£6.30/pint). Another tourist pub whose doors I will never darken again. (And I won't sit at any of the tables outside on the quay either.)

Despite the enviable location overlooking the Menai Strait and nestled-up against the castle walls, this is a scruffy place painted in a shade of light blue throughout making it unappealingly oppressive, populated by locals grunting over the dire music. GBG listed and there were two cask, both from the Marstons stable - Wainwright and a fair Hobgoblin (NBSS 3) served-up by someone who looked like they hadn’t done their GCSEs yet. In essence it’s only really good for sunny al fresco drinking. And it wasn’t sunny.

The Anglesey Arms lies in one of the best locations in wales perched on the banks of the menai straights and yards from Caernarfon Castle. A menu of Locally sourced fresh seafood and traditional welsh fair, with a fine selection of real ales and wines It truly is a must for all pub lovers venturing into the area.
