Practically in Abergavenny - at the opposite end of the bridge. Unsure if I have been as disappointed with a GBG 2025 pub's beer quality. The Butty Bach was headless and didnt taste like it does at my local Wye Valley place. The other choice - Rev James - held up a little better but was rather bland.
Can't argue it was lack of turnover - the place was rammed with live music in a pleasant beer garden.

Closer to Abergavenny than I realised, so as it is GBG listed I decided to enjoy a pleasant 15 minute walk over the river. Inside is an early ‘00s refurb kept well; comfy, carpeted, upholstered and mid-market. GBG credentials in having three cask with Butty, Sharps and an icy cold Rev James available which was in good form once it had warmed up a bit (NBSS 3.5). Also Rosie's Pig cider for the apple grapplers. The grassed garden out back overlooking the Usk is a summer’s day suntrap. Worth the effort.
