Friendly locals' pub comprising of a single room with stone walls and a tiled floor. On the evening of my visit, a free jukebox had attracted some local characters. There is a pool table on one side of the central bar, along with a dartboard. There are also a couple of fireplaces either side. Toilets are in a separate building across a courtyard.

Wye Valley Butty Bach is the regular cask ale. A guest was Wye Valley Autumn Devil with 3 further handpulls. My Autumn Devil served up by a local, who stepped in whilst the barman had ducked out, was enjoyable. Ciders were Hawkstone Cider & Thatcher's Haze.

Visitors are certainly made welcome here by the locals and dogs are allowed in too.

Will Larter left this review about Salutation Inn

I was greeted enthusiastically by the landlord on entering, and offered substantial tasters of the two beers available: Newmans Red Castle Cream and Celt Native Storm. Both come from Caerphilly, and at 4.7% and 4.4% respectively are a little stronger than I would normally drink when cycling, but both tasted good and I went for the Native Storm, a complex dark and malty beer, typically Welsh but with more character than you get from the likes of Brains. If I hadn't had to get back on my bike to reach my accommodation for the night 30 miles away I would have happily stayed longer, or even popped in for one at the Old Vic across the road, for which the friendly landlord here put in a good word.
