A large Marston’s pub just outside the Town centre, easy walking distance from the shopping complex. It has a good sized, pleasant lawned garden with plenty of benches and tables, and there is ample parking. Inside, there is a rambling open plan carpeted bar formed from several smaller rooms conjoined. One large stone fireplace remains, and there is a TV screen in the centre. The cleanliness issue referred to below seems to have been resolved – we certainly had no complaints. The landlady was very chatty, very professional and happy to talk about a previous pub she had run in Yeovil. The food was standard pub grub from a laminated menu, reasonably priced for the area. Two ales on when we came in, but one of them, Hobgoblin Gold, was well past its best – the landlady very quickly replaced it with no fuss. The remaining ale was Bombardier Amber, in good condition. Keg taps dispensed Thatcher’s Gold and Haze, Guinness, Inch’s Cider, Cruzcampo, Carlsberg, Stella and San Miguel. If you’re in the area it makes a convenient alternative to the ‘Spoons and Lounge in the shopping area.

Cold though reasonable Marstons Ped and Old Empire were had for a combined tariff of £5.65. Poor glass cleanliness. Nice smell of carvery.
