A roadside pub which also serves as a village local. They offer basic B&B, have a skittle alley, and they serve basic pub food including good value Sunday roasts. There is a limited amount of parking at the front, while some of the space by the road is taken up with a smoking area. Inside, the original bars have been knocked through to form an open plan bar and dining area, the former a little more comfortable than the latter. The floor is mostly tiled, there are some drinking tables and there is a fireplace with an effective woodburner. Various pictures and sculptures were for sale, nothing exciting but probably fine as souvenirs for the grockles The locals weren’t terribly welcoming and there was an aroma of stale tobacco lingering in the air. The landlord seemed more interested in watching TV than socialising, but maybe he’d had a hard day and needed to relax. Two hand pumps on the bar,one dry, the other had a 6X clip on, but when we ordered the beer was brought through in the glass from another room. It wasn’t in great condition. Probably reasonable if you are a local, but the beer quality would put me off coming back too often.
