A decent local on one of the main arterial routes into Bath. It suffers from not having a car park, but it's worth taking the time to find a space if you're looking for somewhere to stop before hitting the town. There are two main bars, a lounge and a public bar. The lounge isn't that comfortable, whereas the public bar has a pool table, dart board and two TV screens showing live sports. There is a display case showing various sports trophies, and the pub has a loyal local following. There is a scruffy yard at the front which appears to double as an ash tray, but not much by way of rear garden. There is also a good sized function room which can be hired for private occasions. A dog bowl full of water indicated that canine customers were welcomed, but none were present when we visited. The landlord was pleasant enough, and the food looked like good value. Ales on were Butcombe's Original, Doombar and Wickwar's Tall Tale; the latter was in good condition, but we didn't get to try the others due to driving. I'd be very happy to drop in again.
