Moby Duck left this review about Hope

Set in an ugly concrete building as previously mentioned, once inside I found the main front bar absolutely heaving with locals and had the feel of a lively estate pub/club. the bar area was also jam packed but a couple of guys drinking at the bar graciously and happily made way for me. Two handpumps on the bar were dispensing St Austell Proper Job and a very well kept Rebellion Tiddy Mun Mild, NBSS 4. With nowhere to sit or even stand comfortably I found a rear room with only two or three people in it along with a pool table and dart board, it also looked like they host live music here as well.
with the beer quality I found I'd certainly consider looking in again.

Located in a pug-ugly 1960’s grey concrete block, this one was overlooked by me a few years ago as looking simply too rough. Anyway this time I braved it and went in. Two bars but only the right one open. Decorated like a 1980's council house (and smells like them from what I remember). Loungey, with epilepsy-inducing carpet and bright blue velveteen soft furnishings. No lights on except those behind the bar, even the machines were switched off. Pool table to rear and a TV showing local news. The good bits: locals were actually quite friendly and not as rough as I’d expected...the place even got an ale on, Youngs Special (so-so) steep at £3.80pp. I noticed a nice Copper Horse inscription above the bar and that a couple of papers were available. Hardly a destination but much better than I dared hope.
