This is a lovely country pub with a super elevated location opposite a cricket pitch and a grassed front seating area overlooking the shallow valley. On our Sunday visit there was some form of musical BBQ going on outside the pub, taking full advantage. The interior is L-shaped, with upmarket décor - varnished floor, nice red walls, rugs, fireplace, equine prints. Broadsheet newspapers available. A bit disappointing at the bar - three ales on with a less-than-exciting selection of brown beer - Morlands Original, Bombardier and a none-too-great Two Cocks Cavalier. The gratis bar nibbles of doritos and popcorn helped a little. I’d give this one another go due its geographical assets but a bit of extra care on the pumps would do wonders.
