Blue Scrumpy left this review about The Red Lion
The Red Lion has a nice setting in the centre of the village of Stretham, but the pub was not as good as it first looked. As you enter, there is a bar to the left and the lounge is to the right. The lounge contained just one couple with their dog, whilst the bar was quite a simple affair with darts showing on the TV with nobody watching it.
Tetley's & Landlord were the cask ale options. There was no real cider. I took my drink outside to the rear where there the outside drinking space is partly covered and contained a number of loud customers with a child. I chose the slightly quieter open-air area, which was an area of astroturf. Also at the rear, there is a conservatory dining area, which strangely enough contained a dartboard. The nice garlic smell emanating from the kitchen was tempting, but I'm not sure who they were cooking for.
Also outside, there is a drinking terrace accessed by a metal staircase. However, with accommodation offered, this may just have been for guests. There were also tables to the front of the pub, which probably would have been a better bet.
