Strongers . left this review about The Olde Red Lion
Outside the front of the Old Red Lion some picnic tables are boxed in by chest high black iron railings on a repurposed section of the car park. The interior is open plan with a serving counter up the left-hand wall that faces a row of high tables and then two rows of standard tables. A stage with disco equipment sits on the right-hand wall where it faces a dancefloor. High tables sit under the front windows. Sky Sports News was muted on a just one small television, which I thought odd until I noted the projector screen rolled up above the stage. Background music was being supplied by a jukebox, there must have been some highbrow customers in because myself and the handful of aging customers were treated to an opera double header. There is a rear bar that I spied through the back bar, but this was empty during my recent midweek early evening visit. I counted four hand pumps, two of which were badged with TT Knowle Spring and Boltmaker, the latter being off. Premium keg and Carling were also available from the less than cheerful bar staff. The atmosphere is probably better when there is less Verde and more Van Dijk, but I doubt I’ll ever revisit here to find out.
