Being in an area full of campsites and surf beaches, the Red River has very much a holiday feel. Much of the pub has tables laid up for diners, but not in a posh way. Saving grace is the nice row of mainly local ales on handpump, which certainly seemed well-kept. Note the pub garden is across the road.

This is a great pub serving real ales from micros as well as some more national brands, and on the 2 occasions we have visited here, all the beers are well served. Deserves its place in the 2011 Good Beer Guide. It is on the 547 bus route running from St Ives and Hayle through to Poltreath, Porthtowan road end, St Agnes, Perranporth and Newquay. The samdwich choices are brilliant on thick chunky bread. Separate games room, and will be popular in season as it is opposite a camp site. We enjoyed Skinners Sennen, Sharps Doom Bar, Triple FFF Altons Pride, Black Sheep Golden Sheep, Everards Whakatu, Slatersa A'xatec Gold and Fuzzy Duck Pheasant Plucker over the 2 visits.
