Advertised as a kitchen and cocktail bar, I was fine having just a half lager from the six premium keg options in the Cherry Tree early on a recent dreary midweek evening. However, it does feel more like a restaurant with set tables, table service and menus for the tapas, hanging kebabs, flatbreads and burgers. There’s seating across the front windows and up the left-hand wall opposite the serving counter up the right that reveals that this was a proper pub. At the rear is a raised seating area and the toilets, both reached by climbing five steps. The service was friendly and the background music was upbeat, but this isn’t somewhere I’d go just for a beer again.

Not open when we called yesterday afternoon. There was a sign saying 8 till late, but looking through the window it looked as though it was getting a refurb. Ladder on the floor and some wires lying round.
