An unusual and strangely shaped building, but once inside it's more awkward than interesting. The centrally placed bar serves any of the rooms, which are cosy enough, with a fantastic collection of local black & white photos crowding the walls. The bar has two sets of four hand pumps, with four beers doubled up. Two were from their own Bitter End brewery and one each from Jennings and Tirril. I had the Cockermouth Pride brewed on the premises, the other being Lakeland Gold which I presume was also a pale beer brewed with lager malt and hardly any hops. Tirril Nameless sounds interesting, but apparently they wanted to call it Wainwright only Thwaites got there first - I can't find anything else out about this beer (their own website makes no mention of it) and wish now that I'd tried it when I had a chance.
