Blue Scrumpy left this review about Sun Inn

Located in the quiet village of Bassenthwaite, the Sun Inn is a Marston's pub that is listed in the Good Beer Guide. The bar is slightly to the left as you walk in. This front section has stone tiles between the entrance door and the bar, with carpets and fireplaces either side. This area is used for both drinkers and diners. There is further space for diners off to the rear right-hand side.

The oak beams are lined with pumpclips and banknotes, whilst there are a couple of TVs which were both off for my midweek visit. Food seems to be a big thing here, with tourists and walkers catered for. There are blackboards advertising specials and desserts. The specials board included a lamb & mint burger, chicken jalfrezi or salmon dill cakes for £16.50, with a cheese & onion pie setting you back £16. Both children and dogs are welcome. Other signs were promoting a quiz night.

On the bar, there was a house beer (Banks's Bassenthwaite Beauty) & both types of Wainwright - Amber & Gold. Neck Oil was available on keg and the cider was from Inch's.

Outside, there is a drinking area that looks like the former car park. This area has multiple picnic tables, some undercover. Car parking now is in a space shared by residents on the opposite side of the road. It is easily missed.

A nice village pub. Although the limited beer choice is a bit of a disappointment. My Bassenthwaite Beauty was nothing special.
