A pleasant village pub with a GBG entry. There is parking at the front and a large garden with tables, chairs and – worryingly – a children's play area. On one side is a separate building called The Carvery which is used as a function room. Inside is a single long bar with a dining room at one end and a lounge area at the other with Chesterfields and an open fire. The interior has been renovated but has kept its character. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the clients were a good cross-section of locals. The one annoyance was the noise made by children, though the dogs were well behaved. Three ales on, Spitfire, Ringwood Best and Yeovil Glory, plus ciders from Rosie's and Orchard Pig. Food is up-market pub grub, locally sourced and freshly cooked. Worth finding for lunch or an evening's drinking, but be aware that opening times can be unpredictable.
