A quaint village pub, hidden from the main tourist route and used mainly by locals. The main building is 19th Century, though it may have earlier origins. There is a large main bar, L-shaped, mainly carpeted with a wooden floor at one end. There is an additional small, well-lit room at the end. There are woodburners in the brick fireplaces, the décor is fairly modern and there is a good selection of tables, chairs and bar stools. There is a carpark at the front and a few tables and benches for outdoor drinkers. The food menu was not your average pub food which was reflected in the price. There were four ales on. I had a pint of Bath Ales Gem which was an excellent beer in perfect condition and full of rich flavours. The clientele were mainly sagalouts, prone to braying. The staff were friendly and welcoming. This is a decent place for a quiet pint.
