Strongers . left this review about The Abbey Hotel
An art sale was advertised outside the front of the Abbey Hotel when I visited on a recent Tuesday evening. This explained the abundance of art that was on any spare bare wall through the three levels of this pub. The bar is located at the front where there is also some seating and a random advertisement for a cheese platter. There was a random keg selection available from the bar such as Fosters, Asahi, Symond’s Cider and Guinness. One of the four hand pumps was unused and the Kent Best was off leaving Shepherd Neame’s Whitstable Bay and Samuel Adam’s Blonde Ambition as the Cask options. Food is available during Lunch and dinner periods. A quick glance at the menu revealed that a burger costs £11.
Beyond the bar are two levels of seating with tables of varying sizes that are mainly aimed at groups. I must admit that I was surprised to see a tandem strapped to the railings between these seating levels. I didn’t spot any televisions, but there was some jazz music playing in the background. Out the back is a grass covered beer garden that slopes down to the rear. The mix and match of small stools and children’s play things makes it look very untidy. Out the front on the High Street are some café tables for those that like to people watch.
I found the service to be polite and thought that this was a decent pub that my missus would probably like.
