I have just viewed the YouTube link with Ste Brannan, the pub landlord, and he says it all, a truly excellent pub. The pub is full of curios and I managed to fine a stethoscope under a chair, on top of what looked like a doctor's bag. After a quick examination to all the Pubs Galore crew, my diagnosis was that they were all in good shape, after a days beering and lasting well. I went for the Kelham Island Pale Rider, which was also in great shape.

Small one room pub well described by previous reviewers. Every surface covered by eclectic collections of… well tat basically. And most walls and the ceiling disappearing behind overlapping Beer mats. Not many in when we rolled up which meant we could get the stalls next to the roaring fire, a great spot on this chilly evening.
Honestly can’t recall what the six beer options were for our visit as my notes are illegible by this stage of the proceedings, but I do recall Orkney Brewery Red MacGregor and Kelham Island Pale Rider being on… I think !. And there was definitely one from Crate Brewery in Hackney Wick on because the characterful landlord checked it on his screen next to his permanent seat by the bar and confirmed it. I refused this one because I didn’t come all this way to drink something brewed so close to the West Ham ground. However I cant remember what I did have , just that it was another fine beer on a day of fine beers.
It may be a bit of a slog up from the town centre but ideally placed for a last pint before catching the train home.

The first thing I noticed here was the array of GBG stickers on the front door. Inside it's a small roughly square room with the bar on the immediate left. I found it to be delightfully tatty and scruffy with bric-a-brac everywhere.
The bar has six hand pumps which had two unused, Rudgate Ruby Mild & number something, Salopian Bulletproof and Mallinsons Bramling Cross. I went for the Salopian beer (£3.50) which was so good I made sure I had time for a second. This one may not suit everyone, some people might turn up with a feather duster (I don't mean Ken Dodd). I loved it and will definitely return.

Cracking little pub, just under the station walkway from Stockport town centre in Edgeley. It's a small one roomer with a real fire roaring away at one end. The decoration is probably what you would call eclectic, others would say it's covered in assorted junk. There's all sorts of things in here on every available wall and ledge. To me it just feels homely rather than scruffy. There's also a medium sized scruffy black dog as well called Max I think. I don't know if he's the pub dog, but if not he's definitely a regular. Lots of characters in the bar and loads of banter going on with the landlord and each other. 4 or 5 handpumps on the bar, the memory was getting a little hazy by then. But I do know that the pints of Oakham Scarlet Macaw and Dark Star APA that I had were both in excellent condition. If I lived in Stockport then this would be my local. It doesn't open until 5 in midweek, not until 7 on Saturday and not at all on Monday. It's a quirky little survivor and I loved it.

This was my intended last stop before my train home being beside the back way into the station however it was closed and looked terminally so. I have however since been reliably informed that the pub opens late most days, possibly 5-6ish and remains an excellent venue for the discerning ale drinker despite external appearances. Perhaps the next time then.

The rough appearance of the exterior of this pub is enhanced (if that's the right word) by the apparently permanently parked JCB just outside, and the proximity of the modern housing estate probably doesn't help either. One of the panels on the side of the pub retains the impression of the former name: Victoria Vaults. I don't know how it acquired its current slightly pretentious moniker - sarcasm, perhaps.

Inside, it's on the friendly side of rough and the landlord has a nice line of (humorous) invective. There were five hand pumps serving four beers from Skinners, Welbeck, Whim and Kelham Island. If you've only time for one pub between trains, make it this one - but bear in mind it's not usually open in the afternoons.

Quirky pub with ‘crap & tat’ theme to the décor that included a string of onions, an old gas mask, a number of captain’s hats and an October 2008 calendar. The place has a friendly feel and we got a warm welcome, including from the pub dog who never strayed too far from the roaring log fire. Handy as a last stopping off point if you are going to the train station.

Wonderful local pub with constantly rotating choice of 4 or 5 ales always in superb condition. Friendly welcome from owners, staff, & pub dog Molly. A folk jam was in session when I was last there on Wednesday & I believe the same dozen, or so, meet twice a month. Sorry I didn't note the beers but they're always good, Millstone (mmm) is a fairly regular brewery here. Mind your language - the pub has a no swearing policy, and that's no bad thing. The rather ramshackle exterior has been smartened up a little but inside is as eclectic as ever, with various memorabilia, old pumpclips, and a welcoming wood stove in winter.
Beware opening hours - evenings only, from 5pm weekdays and 7pm weekends.

Nice to see it open again. Used to be on the 'Folk' circle a while back which always made for a good night. Decent pint too.
