This is a fairly basic street corner locals pub, the single room layout has been essentially unchanged for decades. The bar is along the back wall, seating being upholstered banquettes and chairs around the perimeter plus in a centre island. The pub looks to have been fairly recently refurbished, the patterned banquettes and half carpeted floor looking fresh and clean. Decor consists of old framed photos of Sale. The other half of the pub has a wood floor, extending into the front corner where the dartboard is. Two handpumps but just one clipped, serving Tetley Bitter, which surprised me as the pub always used to serve John Smiths Bitter, and still does the smooth version.
The pub still attracts a more middle aged to older clientele on this showing, making the young barmaids' choice of Kiss FM blaring out at high volume from the Freeview TV seem rather out of kilter with the surroundings. Mind you, it did take a small conference between them to work out how to pour my pint too so perhaps I shouldn't be too surprised.
