The Royal Oak has a central bar counter that used to serve separate bars either side, but the rear wall has been knocked through to create a U-shaped pub. The right-hand entrance has been bricked up so entry is through the left side where banquettes run up the left-hand wall to some DJ equipment at the rear. The background music during my visit was courtesy of a 90s music channel, which is OK until the adverts start. The right-hand side of the pub is more vault like with a dartboard at the front and the rear either side of banquette seating that runs up the right-hand wall. Standard keg was available alongside Madri, and there are at least three flavours of Thatchers’ cider. A local boozer that I’ll probably walk past next time.

A two roomed pub, the room to the right is a smart lounge with leather look seating and a dartboard. There's loads of United & City memorabilia around the walls, there's also lots of trophies and a big screen TV. The left hand room is also quite smart with a DJ/karaoke rig in one corner. 2 handpumps on the bar, but sadly only Doom Bar available. I just had a half which was pretty good for this nondescript beer and at £1.30 it was certainly cheap enough.

The Royal Oak is a decent looking back street pub that is very close to the Cotton Tree.
Once inside there were two rooms and i had a drink in a very smart and comfortable lounge, this room was carpeted and had a nice cosy feel to it.
When i visited this pub it was a Boddingtons tied house and there were two real ales on the bar i had a drink of Boddingtons bitter and this was a nice drink the other beer was Boddingtons mild.
I thought this was quite a nice pub to have a few drinks in.
