The Market is a very attractive looking pub from the outside, but alas this doesn’t continue inside as it has been opened up at some point. Televisions found throughout were airing muted Sky Sports News. All of the tables in the open plan seating area to the left and at the rear opposite the centrally located bar counter were reserved for 19:00. I walked in at 19:15 and 90% were still empty. I spied three hand pumps on the bar, but two were unused and the third was off so the draught selection was premium keg alongside Fosters. I found some out of the way unreserved seating in the front right of the pub by the dartboard, which was where a group of intellectually stunted local youths were boasting loudly about their insignificant lives. I was glad finish my drink, and as I walked through the pub back to the entrance I noticed that most of the tables were now full, and that the Tuesday evening quiz was not long from starting. An attractive pub that is a bit of a let-down.

This is a very good looking building from the outside. It's terracotta brick façade is surmounted by a sign saying Wm Tong & Son 1901. There are arched windows and lots of hanging baskets. They've really tried to make it attractive. Sadly when you enter you're in a ripped out, one roomed drinking barn. There's a pool table to the right which was being used by schoolkids!! There's also a large stage, so I assume there's live music or karaoke, although I didn't notice any advertising. There's a pretty generic beer yard to the rear. No real ale and a half of Carling was £1.30. It's not a disaster, but it could be so much better.
