Peter Forster left this review about Ship Inn

A large, old village pub, the Ship is a fairly long way from the sea but still maintains a subtle nautical theme in its decoration. There are two bars, one with a raised wooden floored area laid out as a resturant. The other bar has white walls with black beams and a stove in the fireplace. It is all very neat and tidy but retains the vintage old pub feel. Both bars share a central serving bar. The only beer on when I visited was Goodens Gold (£5.60 a pint) from the Flowerpots brewery/pub in Cheriton which is not too far up the road. This was an excellent pale ale, perfectly balanced with a decent hoppy emphasis. My sort of beer and an old favourite of mine (NBSS 5 - could happily drink all night). The bar staff were very welcoming and efficient. Food was good solid pub fare, two mains, macaroni cheese and a burger, together two pints of the beer and a pint of lime and soda came to £43.65 which I think is not bad in this day and age. Highly recommended. Not far from Marwell Zoo if visiting or staying in their hotel.
