More dining pub than village pub although it has a skittle alley, shabby chic décor with an agricultural theme and a sort of public bar. Very handy for the Southampton – Salisbury railway line although not all trains stop at the station across the lane. Internally there is a small public like bar to the side with a larger L shaped room to the front and side, partialy decorated in front room style with a fireplace, sofa and bookcase otherwise bare boards and pine kitchen furniture prevails. To one side is a conservatory or “garden room” as one posh customer referred to it, actually most of the customers are posh attracted by the good quality, well prepared menu. At the back is a dining area called Flints and in an almost separate building the skittle alley. There are also a number of letting rooms. The service is slick and professional albeit a bit restaurant in style. Six handpumps in the front bar with Ringwood Best, St Austell Tribute and remarkably Black Sheep Bitter, in reasonable condition although the Black Sheep wasn't at home so far from Yorkshire, no pulls in the public just a T bar of local variants of the national keg stock. The pub holds occasional beer festivals and is owned by the same people as the Greyhound in Broughton.

Always a friendly welcome at this pub, in a lovely location nice gardens to enjoy when the weather allows. Good selection of wines and beers including guest ales on offer. Good food good company. Though not a regular visitor any more due to moving away from the area, but when visiting friends in the area make a point of visiting this great little pub. I also have not stayed in the accomodation but now i have to travel over a hundred miles to visit it is highly likely i will stay there. I have tried but due to its popularity out of luck as no availability when i needed it. Better luck next time.

I've been coming here for years, as much for the company and welcoming atmosphere as anything else. I've seen the Mill Arms under 2 managements, but both have kept a strong focus on great food, and decent ales on offer. They have rooms available, but I've not tried them out. The food is excellent at both lunch and dinner, occasionally with theme nights, although maybe a touch expensive, but it's not put me off because you feel so at home here. I've also seen them organise a wedding reception for friends of mine, for which they did a superb job. They've also got a skittle alley in their hire room, which is fun.
Totally recommend them.
