This is a nice, old village pub on the inside with plenty of timberwork and a split-level interior. The young landlord and landlady were both very friendly, but none of the 3 handpulls were in use (just a turned Doom Bar clip) and people looking for food were being turned away as the kitchen was closed. Even some of the keg choice had glasses over the taps leaving just Madri, Pravha & Aspall's.
Considering this was a pub that was in the Good Beer Guide back in 2014, it seems to have suffered some decline. It was almost as if the couple had just taken it over. So, I was surprised to hear that they had in fact been there a few years.
To the rear is the car park and some outdoor tables, some on the village sports field. Not sure what to make of this one. Friendly owners and nice pub. Could really be a gem, but with no beer or food, I don't fancy its future chances.
