Old Boots left this review about The Trusty Servant
Largish village pub in a forest village known for its Sir Arthur Conan Doyle connection, he’s buried in the village churchyard. Partly a pub themed restaurant due to the style of service; it has two distinct areas, on the left a dining room, to the right the counter and pub like seating and atmosphere. Four pulls on the counter serve south coast beers, one each from Sandbanks, Flack and Hogshead on this occasion, nowt on wicket 4, two low T-Bars sort out the keg drinkers with a reliable non standard selection. Plain white walls highlighted with a lot of pictures, paintings and there’s some nick nacks, pine tongue and groove ceilings but the two art nouveau fireplaces are neat. Beer quality was above average. The pub’s name is thought to originate at Winchester College and is explained on a sign outside. An adjacent building houses the village community shop and there’s a nice garden at the back, the village green at the front has a set of stocks and inevitably ponies.

Had an excellent meal today with my family and was greatly entertained by the barman's performance of Thriller (sadly didn't get his name). Great service and would certainly recommend this pub now under new management. The fish was delish.
