Graham Coombs left this review about The Royal Anchor
Imposing pub in the centre of the village which looks large and is. The facelifted interior has been joined through as much as possible, with the family dining to one side and a large bar area to the other with pool, darts and sports TVs. There is a big patio to the rear and and an even larger benched garden behind that. Being a Greene King pub in the Hungry Horse brand it had IPA and Abbot on pump, but also Tribute as a guest. Frankly not bad of its type - still plenty of pub and the family side not too intrusive.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Royal Anchor
Substantial Hungry Horse pub, unusually located in the centre of this small town (unlike most others I've been to which are generally to be found as suburban roadhouses or near retail parks). Anyway, it is the usual food-led deal inside, with the usual anonymous corporate furniture and decor in the various seating / dining areas. Also has some patio tables out front and a fair-sized beer garden at the back. Three Greene King real ales on handpump: IPA, Abbot and the seasonal Rocking Rudolph (£3.40).
