Looking at the previous review, I would say that rough and ready is the perfect description for the Cross Keys Hotel. In fact, thinking about it, this tag could be used for pretty much every Barrow town centre pub, with the possible exception of the Duke of Edinburgh.
I arrived in time for Friday night karaoke and what a treat that was! Before I could actually sit down, a guy I was walking past had climbed onto a table and dropped his trousers, baring his backside to all. The all female bar staff team and all customers looked on, but didn't look in the least bit surprised at the goings on. It's probably a typical Friday night out in Barrow.
Moments later the aforementioned 'gentleman' could be seen lying flat out on the floor. I missed seeing how he'd ended up there, being more perturbed by some woman murdering Insomnia by Faithless.
Handpulls can still be found here, but there is no real ale. The keg choice amounted to Somersby Apple & Blackberry ciders, Kronenbourg, John Smith's, Moretti, Carlsberg & Guinness.
The hotel part of this pub's name concerns me slightly. How anybody could even attempt to sleep through the racket from this bar is beyond my imagination.
Entertaining to say the least, but this kind of shenanigans is not for me.

Bit rough and ready. Bar in middle with pool table to rear. Two weak real ales on offer.
