Following a long period of closure this refurbished pub reopened around Christmas 2023. A lot of work has been done on improving the outside seating area behind the pub, which has been quite popular this Summer. Two real ale pumps and the new owners have been open to taking advice in thsi respect, and have engaged with the local CAMRA. They have recently done a deal with Timothy Taylors and are looking to have two of their beers on - although these may not be available during quiet times.

No cask ales but they do have a few bottles, Hobgoblin, Doom Bar, OSH etc. Pool table still there. Sky Sports. Big hardstanding patio area at the back.

The layout reminds me of some old pubs in Northern England in that just inside the main entrance there are two separate doors that lead to different sides of the same bar. There is a square bar with service on three sides and an island in the middle holding optics etc. There's a pool room out the back and a decent amount of covered outside seating. Very much a locals pub and a decent enough place for a pint in an area that doesn‘t have many pubs.

Uninspiring back street local pub with only standard keg beers and lagers. Handy place for a quick pint of Guiness if you are on your way from the town centre to the football stadium to see the Saracens or the Hornets, but that's about it.
