Bucking Fastard left this review about The Roebuck Inn
A very old building based on the by passed Great North Road ,before the building of the A1M and Stevenage New Town around it.The steps down to the main entrance lead to the reception desk to the right and the way to the Indian restaurant open to all, while go left past an ante room with a fireplace and sofas to enter the Roebuck Bar ,with a charming low ceiling,a large inglenook and a series of circular tables with comfy chairs and a small bar.It all feels like a country hotel bar although the roads outside are busy. The side door here allows pub users to avoid the main entrance ,while the pic nic benches outside give rather too good a view of the road network.
Although there are handpumps both were unused apart from one having a button to raise service leaving options of mulitnational keg product where Stella at £2.55 was the best option. Two modern features are a large Sky flatscreen and a laminated pine flooring ,so if busy this would have a bar feel, but there was only one other punter inside on my Satureday 5pm visit. This bar does keep quite normal opening times however so may fill later as there few drinking alternatives elsewhere.
Not overly exciting although the indian food menu looked good, that apart I can't see any reason to revisit.
