Latest Visit (31/5/26):
The London House is back open and is the only remaining pub in Askam-in-Furness. Situated deep in a residential area, it looks fairly dire and uninviting from the outside.
Inside is a different story. This is a vibrant local pub with 3 rooms. Regulars were packed into a small bar. There is an adjoining games room, featuring a pool table and a jukebox. The bar had a TV showing horse racing when we arrived and something different when we departed.
We chose to sit in the separate lounge, which is quite a cosy affair. It has its own TV (switched off) and there are lots of sports shirts (rugby, football, motor cycling) lining the walls.
The solitary handpull was clipped with Great Corby Blonde, which turned out to be a really nice drop. The cider was Stowford Press, with both the original & Berries versions available.
Expectations were very much exceeded here. This must be a gem for the local community.
Original Review (4/8/20):
Similar to the Railway Inn, the London House has not re-opened after lockdown, leaving Askam without any real ale.
